“Lose weight” and “eat better” are tops among health-related New Year’s resolutions, but they’re not the only body-conscious choices you can make as you head into 2012.
Here are 4 healthy resolutions to consider as you get ready to toast the New Year:
- Think outside of the gym – instead of joining the masses at an expensive health club, think of other ways to sneak exercise into your routine. Starters include walking a few laps around the building on your lunch break, taking a dance break when you get home from work or mowing your own lawn.
- Take care of your bones – osteoporosis is a major health issue for 80 percent of women ages 50 and older. Add more calcium to your diet by eating salmon, dark green veggies and beans.
- Go to the doctor – being up-to-date on health screenings can save your life. Take a day to set up all of your appointments for the entire year so you can’t put it off. These include the gynecologist, dentist, and your primary care physician.
- Quit smoking – if you’re still hooked, break the habit for good in 2012. Don’t let past failures discourage you; it can be done! Talk to your doctor about new techniques and medications that could be the ticket to success. Never quit quitting.
