Does your closet look like something out of Hoarders? Don’t fret;
with these 4 tips, you’ll be well on your way to an organized 2012:
- Start small – don’t try to tackle an entire closet in one day. You’ll get overwhelmed and quit. Schedule 1 hour a day to make it more manageable.
- Be realistic – can you talk yourself into saving almost anything? If you haven’t worn it in years, it’s broken or you don’t know what it is – sell it, give it away, or trash it.
- Don’t buy organizational products…yet – it’s tempting to buy all sorts of containers and baskets before you start. Wait to find out what you really need before wasting money on something that doesn’t work in the space.
- Commit to keeping it up – once you’ve got a clean and organized closet, prevent another clutter meltdown by committing to putting things back where they belong. It takes only few seconds and can save you hours of organizing later. For everything new you bring into the closet, commit to purging an item that’s simply taking up space.
