What is Desertion?

Desertion is leaving the marital home with the intention of not returning. There has to be an intent and usually the intent would be manifested by, for example, packing up all the personal items that the person has, or even taking half the furniture or writing a letter saying " I've had it, I'm gone. This would give you a proof of intention that they were leaving with the intent not to return.
