Is there a statute of limitations on Virginia child support orders? I haven't acted on mine, and I'm afraid it has expired and I won't be able to get anything for my minor children.

A: If you have not acted on your Virginia child support orders after going through a divorce, there is no need to worry; Virginia does not have a statute of limitations for child support and your order cannot expire. You have the right to collect unpaid child support when you are ready, even if your child is already out of the house. You should also know that even if your ex-spouse declares bankruptcy, he is still responsible for making child support payments.

Dealing with Virginia child support matters can be difficult. An experienced Virginia divorce attorney can help to ensure that you receive the amount of support needed to properly take care of your children. If you need a child support order modified, your Virginia divorce attorney can help you file the correct paperwork with the court.

If your ex-spouse does not pay the Virginia child support order, you can ask the court to deduct the money from his paycheck
. If your request is approved, the court will arrange for the deduction and ensure that you receive the money that you are due. A Virginia divorce attorney can guide you through the child support enforcement process.

Both you and your children deserve child support from your ex-spouse in order to cover their expenses.
At this vulnerable time, it's critical that you have exceptional legal representation that not only understands the specifics of your case, but is dedicated to your best interests and that of your family.
