Pendente Lite Hearings
During a divorce there are usually certain issues that require immediate - even if only temporary - solutions until the divorce decree becomes final. These typically include:
Temporary child custody and support
Temporary use and/or possession of the marital residence
Injunctions, financial relief, and the use of other marital assets
Either spouse can request a Pendente Lite hearing to temporarily settle these issues while the divorce proceedings continue. It is imperative that you have a qualified Virginia divorce lawyer with you at this hearing to protect your assets and to ensure you receive the financial support, personal property, and child custody/visitation rights you need until a permanent divorce decree is issued by the court.
If you do not have enough time to hire a Virginia divorce lawyer prior to your Pendente Lite hearing, appear at the scheduled hearing and ask the judge to push the hearing back to a later date in order to allow you time to hire legal representation.
