Reasons Why Some Marriages End in Virginia Divorce (Part A)

Divorce is a difficult thing to predict. Sometimes, the couple that seems to have the least in common ends up making the relationship work, while the "perfect" couple that follows the romantic recipe for lasting love may find themselves facing a breakup soon after the honeymoon.

While there is no foolproof formula for knowing which relationships will last, there are some telltale signs a relationship is faltering.

Couples choose Virginia divorce for a variety of reasons and each relationship has its own unique factors that contribute to its breakdown.

There are some common causes for Virginia divorce, including:

  • Adultery - when most of us think of causes of divorce, we usually think of adultery. This act of disloyalty has been written and sung about for thousands of years and is firmly embedded in our culture. Even so, familiarity with the theme doesn't make it any easier when it hits home. Adultery not only severely harms the trust bond between husband and wife, it can also affect the family's standing in the community. Health risks from sexually transmitted infections also make adultery a serious marriage killer and cause for Virginia divorce.
  • Financial problems - sometimes, the strain of trying to live day to day affects a couple to the point where they consider Virginia divorce. Other times, one spouse engages in financially dishonest behavior like hiding money or creating debt.
  • Addictions - addiction to a substance or activity takes all the addict's energy and attention. If illegal behavior takes place, the family may be separated through the addict's incarceration.
  • Abusive behavior - this often goes hand in hand with addiction but is not limited to addicts. Sometimes, the physical or verbal attacks come from only one spouse; other times the relationship is mutually abusive. Either way, it is a compelling reason to seek a Virginia divorce.

While all of these are commonly cited reasons for divorce, the roots of the marital problems that lead to Virginia divorce can't always be traced to specific events or very obvious issues.

Often, marital breakdown that causes divorce begins with subtle emotional detachment. While it can lead to major events like cheating or addiction, this doesn't always occur.
