Co-parenting after divorce can bring up some emotional conflict between former spouses. Some judges have begun to order divorced parents to use online programs that make co-parenting more efficient. You might want to look into some of these following your Virginia divorce.

Washington, D.C., mom and news personality Kelly Collis was having difficulty interacting with her ex-husband when it came to their children's schedules and other details of their custody plan. The tension grew and became more and more difficult to manage until finally a judge offered a solution: He ordered that Collis and her ex use a computer program to help them organize their co-parenting schedule.

The judge's idea turned out to be a good one. Collis and her ex found success using a program called Our Family Wizard, which helps parents keep track of visitation scheduling, appointments, budget and more.

It's not surprising that these programs are beneficial. In the age of the internet, co-parenting after divorce is becoming an increasingly tech-friendly endeavor. Some courts are recognizing “virtual visitation”, and families are taking advantage of smart phone apps and online programs to stay up to date.

Also, using a program to keep track of your parenting time can keep you in a calm, logical frame of mind and help you avoid a lot of the drama that often accompanies early attempts to work together after Virginia divorce. So, even if your judge does not order you and your ex to use an online co-parenting program, you might find it beneficial to explore this option on your own after Virginia divorce.
