Desertion is leaving the marital home with the intention of not returning. There has to be an intent and usually the intent wouldb be manifested by, for example, packing up all the personal items that the person has and taking them with them or even going in and taking half the furniture or writing a letter. This would give a proof of intention that a person is leaving with the intent not to return.
