In Virginia, we are still a fault state so you can either get a divorce on Fault Grounds or you can get a No-fault Divorce.A No-fault Divorce means I am not pursuing fault ground against my spouse but rather we agree not to fight about why we're getting a divorce but rather we're going to separate for one year and upon completion of that year, we're going to enter into an agreement and have a "Friendly Divorce" at the end. Or alternatively, you and your husband may not agree on some terms, you still don't want to go after each other from the point of view of whose fault it was, so you agree to have a No-fault Divorce but you will contest some issue like spousal support or custody or some issue that's unresolved between you two. If you have a separation agreement and you have no children under the age of 18, in Virginia you can get a divorce in six months but that does require an agreement.
